Dear Hillside Families,

We hope you are enjoying these final weeks of summer! We are getting excited to welcome our Huskies back to Hillside and kick off another amazing school year together. 

We have several events coming up before the first day of school, so please mark your calendars!

Friday, August 21 at 12:00 PM — Popsicles with the Principals

Join Mrs. Bolster and our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Lund, for a popsicle and some playground fun! This is a casual opportunity for families to reconnect, meet our new AP, and help us brainstorm our theme/spirit days for the year. And yes, families—we plan to give you ALL the theme days early on!

Tuesday, August 25 1:15pm — Kinder Jumpstart & New Kids Kick-Off

We have a special afternoon planned for our newest Huskies!
Registration: 1:15–1:30 PM
Kindergarten Students & Families | 1:30–3: 00 PM
Kindergarten students and their families will meet the Kinder teaching team, tour the school, and rotate through stations that give students a preview of what they will do during their school day. Families will pick students up at 3:00 PM.
New to Hillside Students & Families | 1:30–3:00 PM
New to JBLM or Hillside? Welcome! Students in grades 1–5 and their families are invited to tour our school, get familiar with the building, and start feeling at home at Hillside.

Thursday, August 27 4:30-6pm — Hillside Meet & Greet

Come meet your teacher and get ready for the first day! During Meet & Greet, we encourage students and families to work through our Hillside “To Do” List:

• Say hi to your teacher and share your dismissal plan.
• Practice walking from the main entrance to your classroom.
• Find the closest bathroom to your classroom.
• Visit the Library, Gym, and Music Room.
• Explore the school and get comfortable before the big first day!

First Days of School

Wednesday, September 2: First day for Grades 1–5
Monday, September 7: No School — Labor Day
Tuesday, September 8: First day for Kindergarten
Thursday, September 10: First day for ECEAP
