Principal Message

Hello Hillside Families,

I hope this message finds you well.  Please find updates and reminders for your information below.

Developmental Disability Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disability Awareness Month. Hillside is an inclusive environment where all are welcomed. Join us this month as we celebrate each other’s differences and value and honor the experiences of all members of our community.

Watch this video from the Diversity Movement to learn more about developmental disabilities:

Read Across America Day

Read Across America Day celebrates the importance and fun of reading! The National Education Association’s 2024 goal is to create and celebrate a nation of diverse readers. Visit their website to see their March book selections and learn more about how you can participate in Read Across America Day with your student.

National School Breakfast Week

National School Breakfast Week is March 4-8. At Hillside, every student receives free lunch and breakfast. We know that a filling, nutritious breakfast is one of the most important factors in academic performance throughout the day. So, whether they eat at home or at school, we hope each of our students start their day with a great meal!

Conferences - Early Release

Conferences will be held March 13-15 and Hillside will operate on an early release schedule.

Now is the perfect time to review academic resources available for your child to help support them through their academic journey for the remainder of the school year. You can find information about these resources and more on the Student Page of our district website.

PTO Book Fair

Our wonderful PTO will be hosting another book fair the week of March 11th through the 15th.  The fair will be open beginning Monday from 3:00-4:30pm.  On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, it will be open 8:00-8:30 am and 3:00-5pm.  Friday it will be open 8:00-8:30 am and 3:00-4:30 pm.

March 21st  4:30-6:30 pm

Join us for a night of reading and fun.  Please use the QR code on the reading night flyer (sent electronically and home with students) to help us plan for pizza and drinks.  The number you enter on your RSVP ticket will be the number of slices you receive.  Save your tickets as you enter.  Can’t wait to see you!

Families and Community Invited to District STEAM Fair on March 9

The district STEAM Fair will be held on Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harrison Preparatory School and Four Heroes Elementary School. All families and community members are welcome to attend and participate in STEM related hands-on activities and explore STEM careers.
