Dear Hillside Families,

I know that we are all looking forward the changes in the weather and increased sunny days.  This is usually a good time of the year to review our student dress code.

Dress/Grooming Code 

Hillside dress code applies to all students in PREK through grade five. Inappropriate attire tends to detract from a proper learning environment.

  • Lycra pants or similarly tight fitting pants are allowed only with long tops or skirts. Tank tops, halters, swimwear, and blouses with midriffs showing are not acceptable attire for school. Sundresses may be worn with a blouse or top. No sagging or loose fitting pants are
  • Walking shorts must be no shorter than 4” above the knee of the student. Short shorts are not
  • Clothing with wording or pictures that advocate or advertise alcohol, drugs, profanity, or other inappropriate wording or pictures is not acceptable or allowed.
  • Bandanas are not to be worn or brought to
  • Hats, hoods and caps may be worn outside only. Bills on caps must face forward.
  • If students come to school with attire or grooming that is disruptive to his/her learning or the learning environment of others, their parents will be contacted and asked to come with a change of

As a reminder, Playgrounds are closed during and after school hours until COVID restrictions are lifted.

Our character trait for the month of May will be compassion.  We will be looking for students that exhibit supporting others physical, mental and emotional needs.  This is a great trait for all students to develop.  Students will be chosen and receive a Student of the Month yard sign based on this trait.

Parents have received information on the CEE survey.  This survey helps guide our work for the up-coming year.
