Dear Hillside Families,
As we step into spring, we are excited to share all the wonderful events happening at Hillside Elementary in the coming months. We look forward to your participation and support in making these events meaningful for our students!
March Events:
- Classified Appreciation Week: March 10th-14th – This week, we recognize all of our classified staff, including our GenEd Paras, 1:1 Paras, Nurses, Secretaries, Cafeteria staff, and Custodians. Their hard work and dedication help make Hillside a fantastic place for our students to learn and grow. Please join us in showing appreciation for all they do!
- Parent/Teacher Conferences: March 12th-14th – Be sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress. Your partnership in your child’s education is invaluable!
- Science on Wheels: March 27th & 28th – Our students will have an engaging, hands-on science experience as Science on Wheels visits Hillside.
- Spirit Day – Mix & Match: March 28th – Encourage your child to get creative with their outfit and mix & match different patterns and colors for a fun spirit day!
- Spring Break: March 31st – April 4th – Enjoy a well-deserved break with your families. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the rest of the school year!
April – Month of the Military Child:
April is a special time at Hillside as we recognize and celebrate our military-connected students. Throughout the month, we will have various activities and recognitions honoring their service and resilience.
- Author Visit: April 11th – We are thrilled to welcome Gretchen Brandenburg McLellan, a former military child who moved frequently due to her father’s army career. She will be sharing her experiences and stories with our students. If you’d like to join your child’s class for this visit, please reach out to their teacher for details.
- Army First Corps Band Woodwind Ensemble: April 18th – The ensemble will perform for our students in two sessions:
- 3rd-5th Grade: 1:30 – 1:55 PM
- Kinder-2nd Grade: 2:25 – 2:50 PM
Parents are always welcome to attend!
- Purple Up Fridays: Every Friday in April, students are encouraged to wear purple to show support for our military families.
- Student of the Month Assembly – Purple Out the Gym: April 25th – We will conclude our Month of the Military Child celebrations by recognizing our students' achievements. Families are always welcome at our assemblies, and we invite everyone to wear purple as we "Purple Out the Gym."
